The Onion Barn

A variety of onion called the Southport Globe was grown in Weston and surrounding towns. Many farmers, including the Coleys, grew this type of onion which is still one of the most widely cultivated onions in the country. The onions were stored locally until they were transported to warehouses in Southport and Norwalk for shipment to New York City. Weston's Onion Barn, where banners and posters for town events are now nailed to its broad side, once housed these onions.
