Weston History Bites: Class Photos

Do you remember your class photos? We want to look back at some of the class photos from Weston's past. Photos and information are from Kathy Failla's book, "Weston".

Image 1: Class Photo outside Middle District School in 1917- The teacher in this photo is Florance Banks. The students are, from left to right, Henrietta Canfield, Estelle Canfield, Alex Martin, Charlotte Broch, Myron Waterbury, Oscar Westerling, Hilda Westerling, Marguerite Canfield, Lillian Broch, Dorothy Martin, Elizabeth Martin, Joseph Martin (back row: Florence McCarrol & Kenneth Fitch). The Middle District School was also known as Norfield school as it was located behind Norfield Congregational Church.

Image 2: Class Photo Middle District School in 1923 - The teacher, Helen Budd Mason, was only 18 years old when she taught at this school. She is located in the back row and is wearing eyeglasses. Charles Daugherty, son of the famous American artist James Daugherty, is the young boy with his eyes closed. Charles went on to have a career as an artist as well.

Image 3: Hurlbutt School Class Photo 1939 - This photo is of the graduating 8th grade class of Hurlbutt School. Students from Kindergarten - 8th grade attended Hurlbutt School and then went on to high school at Staples in Westport. In this photo, Helen Hansen Rosendahl, Weston's town clerk from 1984 - 1991, is fourth from the left in the front row.
