Please join Dr. Jessica Spector, CEO of The Academy Drinks, for a presentation on The Cocktail Party as Post War Salon. The cocktail party, like the cocktail itself, is an American invention. But the story of how we arrived at the highly stylized drinks, clothes, and food that made up the iconic mid-century cocktail party isn’t so straightforward. Dr. Spector will share the surprising tale with us, along with tasty samples of some forgotten drinks from that midcentury era.

About the presenter: Dr. Jessica Spector, CEO of The Academy Drinks, is a philosophy professor and social and intellectual historian who teaches about drink culture and ethics at Yale University. She holds an MA and PhD from The University of Chicago and diplomas and certifications from several Scottish Whisky Academies & WSET. She is a member of the American Distilling Institute and the American Craft Spirits Association, and Director of Drink History and Culture at the Museum of Distilled Spirits. Her publications include work on the sex industry and intellectual history, and forthcoming work in Bloomsbury Press’s series on the cultural history of prostitution.
