Known as the Adams-Scribner Museum, Weston's Old Post Office and General Store are located on Route 53 near the intersection of Georgetown Road and Newtown Turnpike. The store and a small barn are on property that once belonged to the Adams family. The store was commissioned in 1833 as an official Post Office and was in use until the late nineteenth century when it was closed due to a decline in the population. George Adams, the last postmaster, lived with his sister, Lizzie. At her death the Adams' farm, including the general store, was willed to Lloyd Scribner who later sold the property to the Town of Weston. (Photo circa 1850.) |
