Home of Henry Hamilton
Home of Henry Hamilton, Newtown Turnpike.

About 1892. Probably Henry’s wife and daughter in the picture with Henry. Henry was a cobbler and had a small shop to the left out of the picture (it is still there). It also served as a toll booth for the Newtown Turnpike Co. Henry was the toll collector. This house was the residence of Grace Robinson, a reporter for the New York Times, from 1922 until her death in the late 1980s.
